Silja pipes'n'strings - tradtuur

Our second album is available from March 14, 2025.

With our second album, we explore “tradtuur.” It not only looks at the traditional dance music sources of Northern Germany, but also the entire German-speaking world. We also include our own compositions.

We are always looking for melodies that reflect the similarities between German traditional music and Jewish music. And there are very, very many of them. This is not surprising, since both cultures have lived in the same country for centuries. It is also certain that music influences each other and always has; one could even say that it knows no boundaries. Musicians a few hundred years ago exchanged ideas just as they do today. And so the album “tradtuur” also features melodies and dances from both cultures.

You can order it through our shop shop.

Reviews

Exuberant joy in playing, coupled with virtuosity and a tasteful selection of repertoire, make this “Tradfusion” on bagpipes, nyckelharpa (Kristina Künzel), violin (Mark Kovnatsky), and cittern, guitar, and bass (Ben Aschenbach) a truly aural experience. German traditional music blends with jazz and Yiddish influences. Captivating and virtuosic performance. Highly recommended!
